Why Should a Manager Coach?

What is wrong with agents spending their own money and hire outside coaches?
Why should the manager take on one more burden?

Are those coaches looking for what's best for you and your company? Probably not.

Are those coaches providing a bond between you and your agents, so they see you as an important, necessary component in their success?

Are those coaches really doing anything to increase the production of the agents who pay them?

It's true, managers are heavily burdened with all kinds of important and time-consuming jobs to do in any day. Personnel management, facilities management, deal doctoring, handling customers, office meeting, education. The list goes on.

So why take on one more? Aren't those professional coaches better at it?

It comes down to who provides leadership and culture for your company.

It also matters where the perceived value in your office is. Is it how you manage to keep the lights and toilets working? Is it how well the support people get their work done?

Or is it how much personal value you provide to the agents who work for you?

  • Can they count on you to increase their take-home pay?
  • Can you give them a raise (in production)?
  • Can you make them more skilled?
  • Can you provide them with world-class training for free?

If they have to go to an outside coach and pay them, they place great value on the counsel of that coach, who has no obligation or interest in your office.
